USF Monday Night Jazz Series: Trumpeter TERELL STAFFORD
Trumpeter TERELL STAFFORD, with the USF Jazz Ensemble I. The classically-trained Terell Stafford has become one of the most prominent and in-demand performers and clinicians on the jazz scene referred to by legendary pianist McCoy Tyner as ‘one of the great players of our time.’ He’s played in the bands of his mentors including Tyner, Benny Golson, Frank Wess, and many others, and is a longtime member of the Clayton Brothers and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. Formerly on the faculty at Julliard and Jazz at Lincoln Center, Stafford is now Director of Jazz Studies at Temple University. Students in Jazz Ensemble I, USF’s top-flight jazz orchestra, look forward to a performance with one of the modern masters of the music.
