USF Guest Artist Recital: "Andiamo" - Christina Adams, Violin
Andiamo features works from Italy’s Baroque and Romantic eras, showcasing the virtuosity characteristic of Italian music. Baroque works (to be performed on baroque violin) include Pietro Locatelli’s Caprice no. 1 from “L’arte del Violino,” a work that prominently displays Locatelli’s penchant for daring technique and exploration of the upper register of the violin, as well as Giuseppe Tartini’s “Devil’s Trill” sonata, a work well-known in the violin repertoire for its fiendishly difficult double stops and sustained trills. Featured from the romantic era is Respighi’s only violin and piano sonata, a demanding yet beautifully melodic piece for both instruments, performed with USF Professor Svetozar Ivanov.
