Reception: Foundations, An Art Exhibition Celebrating HCC's 50th Anniversary
In celebration of HCC’s 50th Anniversary, Gallery 221@HCC Dale Mabry Campus and the HCC Ybor City Campus Art Gallery are proud to announce a collaborative exhibition of visual art to take place in the fall of 2018. The exhibition, titled Foundations: An Art Exhibition Celebrating HCC’s 50th Anniversary, will feature a selection of work from current faculty and staff juried by Josette Urso, alongside objects from the Permanent Art Collections of the Dale Mabry and Ybor City campuses, curated by Gallery Directors Amanda Poss and Carolyn Kossar.
The multi-phase exhibition will open first at the HCC Dale Mabry Campus from October 15 – November 21, continuing with the Ybor City Campus exhibition from November 1 – November 30.
Gallery221@HCC Dale Mabry Campus will host an artist reception on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 5-8pm. A keynote presentation by artist Josette Urso will begin at 6pm. The exhibition reception and keynote presentation will take place on the 2nd floor of the Learning Resources Center / Library building (DLRC), HCC Dale Mabry Campus. Food, libations, and music will be provided for free, courtesy of the gallery. Parking is also free for visitors in any open lot.
About Gallery 221@HCC’s Keynote Speaker: Josette Urso was born in Tampa, FL and currently lives and works in NYC as an instructor at The Cooper Union School of Art. Urso received her BFA and MFA from the University of South Florida, Tampa. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Gottlieb Award (2013), two Pollock-Krasner Foundation grants, the Mid-Atlantic NEA and the Basil H Alkazzi Award. Residencies include Yaddo, Stock 20, Taiwan; AIEP American Artist’s Abroad, Cambodia; Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Ireland; Camargo Foundation, France; Ucross; Millay and the VCCA. In New York City, her artwork has been shown at the Drawing Center, the Bronx Museum, Markel Fine Arts, Kenise Barnes Fine Art, Storefront, Norte Maar, DFN Gallery, Julie Saul Gallery, lyonswiergallery and in Chicago at the Gescheidle Gallery.
