Jazz Highlights - Terry Gibbs
After a career spanning seven decades, vibraphonist Terry Gibbs decided to retire at age 90. Now, after two years, Whaling City Sound record label owner Neil Weiss convinced him to record again; but only on Terry's terms. So his New York based artist and drummer son, Gerry Gibbs, packed up all of his recording gear and headed west to Terry's house in California for several days of recording in the den. The result was impressive: over 70 minutes of music, all first takes. The recording, "92 Years Young; Jammin' at the Gibbs' House" is just one of the topics the irrepressible Terry discusses with jazz host Mike Cornette in this conversation with music.
