Claude Debussy: La Mer

Claude Debussy: La Mer

Claude Debussy once said, “I was destined for the fine career of a sailor.” He wrote these words to a friend in September 1903, saying the only thing that kept him from being a sailor was accidents of life that set him on another path. Around the time that Debussy penned these words, he was also penning his famous La Mer, his own impressions of the ocean that took on the unique form somewhere in between a tone poem and a symphony.  [Photo: pubdomain/http://bit.ly/2E3bsVo]
