Franz Schubert: Symphony No. 7 in E
While Schubert’s Symphony No. 8 is rightly regarded as his “Unfinished” Symphony, there was another one that was also unfinished: the Symphony No. 7 in E. What Schubert did finish was a sketch of what is basically the entire piece, even assigning and penciling in instrument names, but he died before he was able to fully orchestrate the work. That task was left to musicologist and composer Brian Newbould, who completed the symphony in 1977.
