Food Insecurity

Volunteers from Feeding Tampa Bay and USF recently handed out food to students and their families at Foster Elementary School in Tampa.
Food Insecurity

There are 700-thousand “food-insecure” people living in the Bay area – that’s people who don’t have consistent access to food due to a lack of money or other resources.
Now the University of South Florida and the group Feeding Tampa Bay are teaming up to form the Hunger Action Alliance, which not only helps feed these people, but also studies the long-term health effects of the problem. University Beat on WUSF 89.7 takes us to a recent Alliance food distribution event, where some Tampa area elementary school students – and teachers and staff – received much needed nutrition.
