Firefighter Back Pain (rebroadcast)

The Variable Angle Roman chair that will be used in the exercise study sits in front of a Tampa Fire Rescue truck in Station 1.
Firefighter Back Pain (rebroadcast from 4/18/16)

The leading cause of disability and early retirement for firefighters is back injuries – not really a surprise when you consider they’re lugging as much as a hundred pounds of gear in the field. Armed with a $1.3 million grant from FEMA, the University of South Florida is recruiting members of the Tampa Bay area’s three largest fire departments for a study of an exercise regimen that hopes to reduce the risk of such injuries.
