All Night Jazz: June 28, 2017

Louis Armstrong

Tonight on All Night Jazz, the “Other Nine to Five,” Mike Cornette will feature music from the great Louis Armstrong, recorded on this day in jazz history, including the classic “West End Blues,” which contains what many people consider to be one of the greatest trumpet solos on record. Plus, more music composed by our focus artist of the week, Richard Rodgers. Then later, just in time for “hump day,” we’ll hear another version of Duke Ellington’s “Caravan” on the Midnight Standard. The adventure begins tonight at 9 on WUSF 89.7.
