Then & Now 8/4: Super Strings!
On this date in 1972, a concerto for amplified violin and orchestra, by American composer Charles Wuorinen at the Tanglewood Festival by violinist Paul Zukofsky and the Boston Symphony, with Michael Tilson Thomas conducting.
If you know a young violinist in our area, you may want to let them know about this exciting opportunity! Super Strings is a group of violinists and violists between the ages of 8-18 from Sarasota and Manatee counties and around Florida who come together as an ensemble of soloists to play with the PMP String Orchestra under the direction of Itzhak Perlman himself! A preparatory workshop with local music instructors is held to support participants. This will be the fifth time this special project is presented as part of The Perlman Music Program Sarasota Winter Residency.
