Then & Now 8/21: BBC Proms
It’s that time of year again when the BBC organizes the biggest classical music festival in the world, the BBC Proms, which runs from mid-July to early September, offering dozens of orchestral concerts, chamber and solo recitals, choral performances, and both early and brand-new music, including specially-commissioned new works. You can hear highlights from the proms every Friday night over the next several weeks, as SymphonyCast brings us concerts right here on Classical WSMR. This week it’s a mixture of light and dark: sunny selections by Mozart and Brahms and a stormy new composition by Erkki-Sven Tuur. Friday night at 8:00 on Classical WSMR 89.1 & 103.9.
