Then & Now 6/27: Modern Liturgical Music
On this date in 1985, Dave Brubeck’s dramatic scene "Voice of the Holy Spirit (Tongues of Fire)," had its premiere at the National Association of Pastoral Musicians Convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, with Richard Gloyd conducting.
The NPM convention returns to Cincinnati in just a few weeks for its 40th annual convention. Featured will be a panel of members of the Composers Forum, which will perform and review selected unpublished music. There are also numerous performances including choral concerts, organ recitals, and even cantor adjudications. More information is online at www.npm.org
