Then & Now 2/22: A Musical Tour
On this date in 1881, Max Bruch’s "Scottish Fantasy," had its premiere in Liverpool, and in 1941, Morton Gould’s "Latin American Symphonette," was played for the first time in Brooklyn.
Many composers and musicians have been inspired by touring other lands like Scotland, and Latin America. Later this morning, WUSF Public Media is teaming up with the St. Petersburg Conference on World Affairs to host a panel discussion on arts tourism in the Sunshine State. We invite you to join us at USF St. Pete this morning at 10:20. The panel will feature experts including Florida Orchestra music director Michael Francis. Join us later this morning in St. Pete and listen for highlights next week on Florida Matters on WUSF 89.7, and here on Classical WSMR every Monday night at 10.
