Robert Schumann: Cello Concerto in a Op. 129

Robert Schumann: Cello Concerto in a Op. 129

Part of the reason Robert Schumann became a composer was because he permanently damaged two of the fingers on his right hand at an early age, which effectively ended his hopes of becoming a virtuosic concert pianist. That injury also led Schumann to pick up the cello, and while the composer did not establish himself as a cellist, he did learn much about the instrument and how to write for it.
