Midday Mozart: Symphony No. 21

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Travel has its way of opening and expanding our thinking. For a teenaged Mozart, Italy offered just that. The country had a major influence on Mozart’s music especially Italian opera. Italian opera overtures greatly influenced Mozart’s symphonies. He’d even use a symphony at concerts as a kind of overture to a program that featured  instrumental or vocal

solos.

We’ll hear one if his Italian-influenced symphonies today on Midday Mozart with Bethany Cagle.
