Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 3

Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 3

Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 3 was written a few months after his eighteenth birthday. Like his other early symphonies, it was not published during Schubert's lifetime.  The third is shorter than Schubert’s first two symphonies, and perhaps foreshadows ideas that he used to great dramatic effect 10 years later in his “Great” C-major Symphony.  Join Russell Gant for Schubert’s Symphony No. 3, our featured “Masterwork” this Saturday night at 7:00 on Classical WSMR 89.1 & 103.9.
