Birds are the Subject of Martha Gipson's new Exhibition, "Feathers Show the Way"
St. Pete Art Works presents a collection of work by Martha Gipson featuring the feathers of birds. Birds often appear to her in times of deep distress and sorrow, bringing comfort, grace and strength. She says, “I love the fleeting nature of birds, the unable-to-grasp-ness, conveying life’s mystery. “ By collecting their feathers, Martha acknowledges and honors them. She sometimes puts the feathers in collages and layers of paint, wash, glaze and cold wax. The exhibition will be on view through December 8.
